Setting up your first grow room can feel like a lot of equipment, but it breaks down into a handful of categories. Use this checklist to make sure nothing gets missed.
1. A space or tent
A grow tent keeps light in and the conditions controlled. Pick a size that suits your space and the number of plants you want. If you would rather buy everything at once, a complete grow kit bundles a tent with lighting and ventilation. Browse all grow tents and kits.
2. Lighting
Choose lighting to suit your tent size. See our grow lighting range and LED grow lights, and add a timer or contactor to run them on a schedule.
3. Ventilation and odour control
A grow room needs fresh air moving through it. An extraction fan, a carbon filter for odour control and ducting do this job. A complete extraction kit bundles all three, and a carbon filter can be bought separately. A fan speed controller keeps temperature and noise in check. See our full fans, filters and climate control range.
4. Growing medium and pots
Choose coco, soil, clay pebbles or rockwool to suit your growing method, plus pots to match. Browse growing media and pots, trays and supports.
5. Nutrients and pH tools
Pick nutrients suited to your medium from our nutrient range. You will also want a pH and EC meter, calibration solutions, and pH up and pH down to keep your feed on target.
6. Monitoring conditions
A thermometer and hygrometer tell you the temperature and humidity in your tent so you can adjust before problems start. See temperature and humidity equipment.
7. Propagation
If you are starting from seeds or cuttings, see our propagation range.
8. Plant care
Keeping a clean grow room and monitoring for pests helps prevent problems. Sticky traps are a simple way to monitor flying insects, and our plant care range covers pest and disease control.
